one for you. two for me.

isn't that how christmas shopping goes?
i just found a line of baubles and beauties that i think would be a perfect christmas gift, whether for someone else or yourself ;)

find all of her creations (tons more than i show here) here.

unfortunately you can't purchase them online through her website, but there are locations across the world to stop in a pick something up.

this dainty disco ball is what won over my heart.
oh my.

leather tassels.

a leather bow cuff!

a gold bow brooch.
that you can obviously stick anywhere.

party sequins

it always happens this time of year.
i get crazy about glitter and sparkles and gold and sequins.

it's really easy to dress up the festive party sparkles, but what to do with them when the parties are over at the end of the season?
usually the things sit in my closet until next holiday season rolls back around.

but i've found lots of people who show us how they can be dressed down and worn more often. (long after all the eggnog and champagne have been downed.)

t-shirts and jeans.
sounds good to me.

i have been playing around on polyvore. another good place to waste good time.
and i came up with these:

casual sequin 2

Free People baseball t shirt, $198
Short top, $178
American Eagle Outfitters slim leg jeans, $30
Steve Madden ballet shoes, $90

casual sequins 1

Cable knit cardigan, £129
T shirt, $75
7 For All Mankind low rise skinny jeans, $126
Miu miu shoes, $495
Gathering Eye stone necklace, $20

those sparkling miu miu tennies... i die.
those could certainly become my everyday sequins.
and of course, my lipstick made it. i am quite possibly obsessed.

go buy some more sparkle!!

sweet treat...

with kids off school, family coming and going, and parties to attend these cookies are the perfect treat to have around the house and take to your thanksgiving host....and so easy!!

dried cranberry and chocolate cookies

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned rolled oats

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon kosher salt

2 1/2 sticks unsalted butter (10 ounces), at room temperature

1 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg, at room temperature

1 large egg yolk, at room temperature

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups semisweet or white chocolate chips

1 1/2 cups dried cranberries

preheat the oven to 325°. line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.

in a medium bowl, mix the flour with the oats, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a standing mixer fitted with the paddle, beat the butter and both sugars at medium speed until creamy. add the egg followed by the egg yolk and vanilla, beating well between additions and scraping down the side of the bowl as necessary. beat in the dry ingredients, then add the chocolate chips and cranberries and beat until incorporated.

spoon heaping teaspoons of the dough onto the baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until the cookies begin to brown at the edges. let the cookies cool on the baking sheets, then transfer them to a rack to cool completely.

the cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

travel safely and enjoy all your time with family and friends this week! so much to be thankful for...

this project cost me a whole whopping $12.
less than!

my dad purchased an office building a couple of months ago to move his office into. it came with some office furniture... midcentury modern gorgeousness actually.

and then there was this.
it was stuck back in the back, covered in dust and grime.
the original upholstery (prob purchased in the 80's sometime) was ripped in the front.

i told him i could try and reupholster it for him.
he said i could just have it.
so i took it home, and husband gave me one of those looks,
like- why are you bringing that into our house?

picures are actually making it look better than it did in real life.

months ago, i stumbled upon this fabric that was cute enough...
but it was only $3 a yard so i bought 10 yards of it. why not really? it was $3.
i thought i'd reupholster my grandma's wingback in it but i am saving up my courage and strength for that job. so i decided to use it for this project.
it took less than 4 yards to do the whole thing.
but more than a few weeks to do it.

i didn't take any photos during.
just painted and replaced the fabric.
i kept all the inside stuffs.

is it the best bench/setter thing in the whole wide world?
no, not really.

is the new upholstery job better than the previous?
light years.

it was my very first time making piping. it was kinda fun actually.
i used this and this tutorial for help.

it was one of those tasks that scared the you-know-whats off of me until i made myself do it.

made some green velvet pillows for it and now i quite like it.

it's now going to live at my dining room table.

we have a settee at the kitchen table (which is next on the list for some re-up) and now we have one for the dining room.
so comfy.

whatchya think?
at least better, right?
and certainly worth $12!

where its at.

layers, and texture and pattern-on-pattern, all mixed with deep colors...

that's where its at for me right now.

my house needs some warming up for the chill that has settled upon us.
i didn't get around to making my fur vest this weekend.
might be making some fur pillows when i finally get around to it!
they look so cozy on that bed!

happy cold monday.

**the bright side: SHORT WORK WEEK!!**
