2 very handsome men and a house.

and those 2 handsome men...
both of whom i have secret crushes on...
are nate berkus and jeremiah brent.

you know nate berkus.
but did you watch rachel zoe last season?
because then you'd also know jeremiah brent.
(i did and i thought she was nuts for letting him go.)

but they are now together,
making house dreams come true. together.
in the hollywood hills.

cue the envy!!

i wish i had the restraint to dress my home in a variation of three colors, plus the original mint kitchen. it's so beautiful.

i follow them both on instagram, and they truly look happy together.
and that makes me happy for them.

all this found in the latest harper's bazaar.

another surf shack.

who's surprised?
i'm now convinced i was never supposed to live in kansas for the rest of my life and an ocean must be involved for the rest of it.
at least a vacation home i can escape to... my current lake house does the job but i didn't get far, in missouri.

did you see this in the new lonny?

its another bachelor-pad-montauk-surf-shack dream of a house in the hamptons.
this time belonging to a photographer, ben watts, who've i've had a photography crush on for forever.

compared to my my other favorite montauk shack, which i posted, almost to the day, this time last year, it's a little more refined. still tons of edge and tons of i love it.
with lots of really cool australian-turned-new yorker-bachelor details.
i've heard the parties here aren't forgotten.

in case you missed it, here are some of my favorite details.
and you can obviously, find lots more here at lonny.

YES!!!!

dreamy.
my only visit to the hamptons didn't involve montauk and now i'm also convinced i should go.

elle, can we sometime soon?!??!!

heaven in the form of a pool house.

4 day work weeks never seem as wonderful as they promise. do you guys feel the same way? shoot, this one felt like it would never end!! and let's be honest, it's not over... it's only 9 am :)

i wish i could say that i was going to be camping out here for a weekend of r&r but alas...
i have 3 weeks of neglected yard work to tend to this weekend. with this more than usual humidity, the weeds have taken over.

i hope you have more glamorous plans than i!
have great weekends.

outdoor living has commenced!!!

that's right. that was me gettin Excited (with a capitol E). i love outdoor living and loving, drinking and eating, swimming and sleeping. i like doing that everywhere but in my own backyard.

it is one hot mess out there. and i do mean hot. we've had heat advisories the last 2 days.

i mean, i can do interiors. i get them. i feel like i know them and i have confidence and bountiful ideas. when it comes to the great outdoors, i have..... grass? and even then, i can't always promise you it will be lush and green in the middle of july. i do have 15 peony bushes lining my back fence (my favorite flower since birth, and they are about to pop open any day now!!) but i know they are only still around because the owner before me planted them.

if you have a couple seconds, i would delve into the collection of spectacular outdoor spaces i have gathered below. if you are anything like me, being without a green thumb... mine is red, or blue-- any color but green, then you'll find these drool worthy, and i wish my backyard was a collaboration of every single last one of them.

enjoy. (or be envious, your choice.)

i don't even have a patio or deck. my sunroom walks down straight into grass. i love this idea i first blogged about here, with circular stepping stones. i think that would be insanely easy to implement (easier, i guess), and different than the norm. i just can't pull the trigger.

i vow to have a magazine worthy backyard with perfectly manicured lawns and shrubs. with a giant rustic wooden table mixed with modern chairs for dining. and even a small and glamorous pool (i die over cynthia rowley's petite pool plopped smack in the middle of nyc). perhaps some great lighting, and the perfect outdoor accessories (like those elephants)...someday. but i do want to start my path to glorious backyard living right now!

check out the amazing poolhouse project by fairway neighbor, tim super, featured! the lighting and perspective in this photo below are just beautiful.

and the pool looks quite refreshing.

i guess the only way to beat the heat is to spend the afternoon by the pool followed by an evening in the poolhouse.

peach sangria and a spread of fancy hors d'oeuvres. sounds pretty perfect, although things could get quite steamy.
