pop. fizz. clink.

the glitz and sparkle of new year's is always my favorite.

i don't usually enjoy going out out tonight because of the cost, and i'm cheap :)
but i love a party at home!!

{i've never hosted myself, and its something i'd really like to do.
next year's my year. mark your calendars.}

camille styles and kate spade worked up a little party inspiration for us all. and if i were to throw a nye party, i'd certainly hope it looked at least a smidge this glam:

^  those are screaming my name.

i. will. be. having a white russian milkshake tonight.
vanilla ice cream with vodka and kahlua poured on top.
holy yum.

but i guess the party decor isn't 100% crucial to a great nye party.
this might be:

because who needs food?
just kidding.
i like food.
this is the fridge you have out in your garage.

but i'm actually really excited about my plans tonight.
going out with my dude, to a little get together.
i have a most fantastically badass outfit planned.
the snow just started here in kc and it's unloading...
not planned to stop until tomorrow morning!
and i really am planning on a white russian milkshake.

white russians, snow, sparkles and....my outfit = awesome.

{if my outfit turns out half as cute as i'm hoping, i'll share on instagram : @jabarrier. follow.}

happy new year's everyone!!!

see you bright eyed and bushy-tailed tomorrow morning ;)

2 turtledoves...

and a
partridge in a pear tree

holiday party need a holiday drink?

i found this recipe for a
'partridge in a pear tree'

lots of holiday drinks, including my white russian with cinnamon, seem a little too heavy and creamy to have more than one. or even one. sometimes a weighty cocktail just won't do.

this one seems like it would be light and refreshing yet still get you feeling festive.

1.5 oz pear vodka
.5 oz lemon juice
.5 oz simple syrup
champagne to top it off
rosemary for garnish

i'm tempted to throw some rosemary into my simple syrup to get a little of that flavor into the drink, i love herbs in cocktails. and i love rosemary.

and i love you.

there you have it.

coupes

i think i'm going to start collecting different, eclectic and fabulous
champagne coupes.

i have a set of flutes... a gift from my college roommates back in the day :)

but i would also like a set of these.
i kinda don't want matching-- just coordinating and roughly the same size.

i'm so excited. now i have a new thing to hunt for while antiquing and that's my favorite!

they are so old school glamorous.

and charming.

and unless i stumble upon an entire set of 12 vintage that i can't let go... or find 12 new ones that i would be willing to throw down the money for (let's be honest, i don't need these), i think an eclectic mix is the way to go. and i definitely want some pink ones!!

happy new... life!!

remember my post last year for the fun nye wedding?
with confetti and dots galore.

i recently stumbled upon this dress below, from doug hannant.
and i have to say i was a little jealous i wasn't getting married this weekend.
so perfect for a new year's eve wedding celebration.

a whole lot beautiful. a lot sparkly. a little different. a little sexy.

these would be my maids.
a rockin crew of gorgeous women and gowns
in a pallette especially festive.

and my cake.
beautiful and metallic.

and you can't forget the sparkles and champagne for the guests!!

dream nye wedding.

bubbly tasting party

i just got caught up on some blogs last night, and this one from coco + kelley caught my eye. i'm dying over their mix of glassware!! read more of my dishes/glassware obsession here and here...

but honestly, the idea of this party with the girls is so much fun. they did a rose wine tasting party (more here), i think i'd switch mine to a bubbly tasting party because that stuff is my jam :)

i know i'd love an invite to a cold champagne tasting party this summer!

to implement this eclectic glassware look, you'll just need to buy lots and lots of mismatched pieces.
this woman on etsy collected a bunch for you already.

and the more eclectic the better in my opinion. like mixing these etched beauties above with these opalescent beauties below. also on etsy.

and i really like mixing stem with stem-less glassware. here are some simple (i.e. perfect) godis glasses from ikea.

and some even more perfect simple marta glasses from cb2.

and i've been meaning to do this for awhile now, but i'd really really like to buy 20-25 of these simple glasses and etch them with a 'B' for our last name. just to have on hand.

i've never used it, but the blogosphere seems to love this stuff for glass etching purposes:

southern living did it recently, but they did it with numbers. another good idea. you'll never be left wondering which glass is yours ;)

and on an almost totally unrelated note, another project that i've been meaning to try:

this mirror form eddie ross. he bought a cheap mirror from lowes and etched an initial on top.
lovely and easy. 2 words that go together like peas and carrots to me.

maybe this weekend!?

the french fizz

i found this thank-you written by marilyn monroe and couldn't keep it to myself :)

and yes, it's tasty but i think it's only my fave because of the iconic orange label.

it's always a fete with bubbly.

just in case you needed a little wednesday pick-me-up.
