flowers for friday #113

have a happy weekend.

i will be :)

{image via coco+kelley)

take it up a notch.

it would appear as though i'm dipping into the holiday jewels a bit early this year.

ever since this post here, i've been hunting them down on ebay and etsy, and local places. they're everywhere. large and in charge necklaces, vintage = better.... brooches. again, vintage = better.

especially worn with jeans and tees!!

and i've done this with my messy bun lots of times:

makes it so much more important... than just messy hair.

oh, and kansas city's getting one of these!
2.6 minutes from my house.

for little dudes.

i'm back :)

things are better.
still don't know a ton, but husband is better and feeling like himself.
and that makes me better in return.
i'll fill you in at a later date. i want space between it and here.

but i have a really fun little boys room worked up for ya.

it's little boy-sy but not cute-sy.
just the way i like it.

if you want the sources for any of this good stuff, email me.
sorry i just got too lazy to include it.

but one more time, let's look at the best part:

this wallpaper kills me.
i also kinda wish i could afford to do one of my bathrooms in this luscious stuff.
i love it so much.
like vintage-african-safari-boys-club-glamping smooshed onto wallpaper.

hope you have a splendid thursday.

painted pumpkins.

we carve pumpkins every year.
just husband and i.

and usually bake the seeds... which is the best part of carving pumpkins!!

this year i'm really liking painted pumpkins.
even minus the seeds.

found these on babble.

in not so fall colors.
i think it's adorbs.

and here are some other options a la photoshop:

bold and pretty with mint and cobalt.
or neutral shades of grey.

and sorry i've been so absent.

some things in life are happening right now
and it really puts your life into perspective.

i don't want to dive in too deep because honestly, it scared the whole you-know-whats out of me... but things are looking better and not as scary and i'm thankful.

very thankful.

love you.
be back soon.

i'm going to be a godmama for my cousin's baby boy.
headed down there to spend the weekend with them.
kinda excited.

its almost time for these!

and if this were the fireplace scenario around my house, i'd have one every night.
probably the most gorgeous trimmed fireplace i've ever seen.

reminds me of the scenery in sex and the city 2.
watched it again last night.
i know i know....
but it was on hbo, and i was doing some work.
and i got caught watching it all over again.

i don't even love the story but the design (carrie's apt, and the whole middle east portion) kills me. every. time. not to mention their clothes. i always feel a little more daring with my wardrobe the day after i watch it.

hope you have a fantastic thursday.

fall mingling.

so this fine early fall....
i'm all for mixing and matching.
less matching and more mixing.

and this is what i love about cooler weather... it allows more layers.
with more layers you have more interest. more ways to mix.

here are 2 outfits i wish i could make magically appear in my closet.
one super colorful, the other not as much.
both with a healthy dose of pattern.

they are so perfect for work right now.

H&M , $24 / Floral skirt, $63 / Moschino Cheap & Chic high heel shoes, $415 / Kenneth Cole coral jewelry / Silk scarve, $96

Wallis fitted blazer / Alice + Olivia leather skirt / Madewell leopard print shoes / Kenneth Jay Lane collar necklace, $300 / Here & There Tee, Animals

love you all lots.

garlic scallion noodles.

home-made take-out!

does that make sense?
last night, husband and i made this from here

we were out of town all weekend for our friends' wedding.
getting back yesterday, we were beat.
too much fun :)

so dinner was either take-out or easy.
after stuffing our faces all weekend we didn't feel like junk food,
so we landed upon these:

garlic scallion noodle bowls.

not totally healthy but not a total bomb, either.

it's not my recipe but i wanted to share them so badly with you!
so tasty tasty delicious.

all you need:
butter, soy sauce, garlic, scallions/green onions, brown sugar and noodles.
{get the full amounts here.}
and we added some shrimp to ours to make it a whole meal.

first we started with the noodles. just plain ol spaghetti. (we made sure to not cook them all the way, i didn't want mushy. took them off just before al dente.)

we sauteed our shrimp in olive oil. put them aside.

then we melted our butter in a saute pan and added our garlic and onions.
sauteed them for about 4 minutes and added the soy and brown sugar.
got that all mixed and lovely.

then we added our noodles and shrimp into the pan with the sauce and tossed.

you can add more onions for garnish.

and you guys.

so good.
soooo good.

it really was like take-out,
but you can control what goes in it!

we ended up not thinking it was saucy enough so we whipped up another half batch of it. this time using way less butter {we thought there was enough of it already}, so basically just added more garlic, onions, soy sauce and brown sugar.

salty sweet and yummy.

happy monday.

flowers for friday #111

the colors and little fruits scattered about the bottom are making my heart happy.
what a gorgeous table.

duh. amy merrick did it!

happy friday.

oscar inspires.

have you ever seen a gown so lovely and amazing and gorgeous?
this is the ultimate for me.
the very dress of my dreams.

oscar de la renta. spring 2013.

i'm so in love.
i love that the white and black stripes aren't the same size.
i love the necklace with it. big. black roses and a bit of gold.
i love the cut and the lay of the stripes, and how they meet in the center.
and the full skirt.

and you know what else i kinda love with it?
that man's blue shirt and shoes.

make this into a bathroom?

sure, why not?
and although i love the colors of that chair, i wish it were a little less harsh. maybe a gilded louie with some cobalt velvet? regardless. pretty.

happy thursday!

i still don't know what to call it.

but i'm happy to see that this color is still trending,
and this year i think it's even bigger!

what is it?

wine? maroon? burgundy? deepest darkest raspberry? ox blood? (gross, no.)

last october i professed my love for this color mixed with magenta.
it totally takes it up a notch, no?

well, h&m says you can also mix it with coral:

and jenna lyons likes it with hot pink:

i like it all 3 ways.

i never did pull the trigger and get me some david hicks, la fiorentina.
maybe its a sign i should jump on that.
{i think i'm holding out for 4 window panels worth.
but at this rate and at that price, it might be awhile ;) }

how do you feel about this color popping up everywhere?
some people i know are very opposed.
perhaps it reminds them of the last time it was cool... was that the 80s?
feels to me like it was the 80s or early early 90s.
the key to keeping it fresh is pairing it with bolder, bright colors.

to each his own, i guess.

new edition.

my absolute-gorgeous-friend, meg and her husband
welcomed their new baby girl this past friday.

they asked me to document this momentous occasion for them a few months ago.

found a barn in the middle of suburbia.
seriously. the city must have grown up around this place.
it's like a little bit of wild-kansas history right in our backyard.
the owners were so gracious to let us play around.

just thought i would share a tidbit.

she. is. stunning.

and so was her little belly :)

congrats, you two!!!!!!!!!!!

love you lots.

is it too early...

to start making these?

like fall in a glass.

ginger ale.
apple cider.

flowers for friday #110

ahh, september.

time for darker colors,
and giving my air conditioner a break every now and again.

i actually wore a cardigan to work today, because i just couldn't help myself.
is it too warm? yeah, probably.
but again. just. couldn't. help. myself.
i get so excited for this next wardrobe season every year.
layers are my favorite.

hope you have a great weekend.

50 shades

of green.

har har har.

but seriously, why would you choose only one shade of jade...
when you could choose them all!?

especially warmed up with wood and brass.

girl, you fancy.

yet comfy all at the very same time.

fancy tee.

Burnout tee / River Island boucle jacket, $48 / Versace leather skirt / J Brand boyfriend jeans / Givenchy kitten heels, $250 / Gucci strappy sandals, $465 / D&G rhinestone jewelry

if you haven't gathered, i really like t-shirts.
{more here. here. here. here.}
i like comfy, worn-in, slightly fitted but perfectly loose t-shirts.
i like the baggy-ness mixed with tight skinnies.
i like them with boyfriends.
i like them super casual with a pair of cut-offs.
i like them dressed up.

here are 2 ways to dress up your favorite old comfy tee.
(and you can fake an old tee. old navy actually has the best fitting v-neck, loose, pretend-worn-in, t-shirts right now!)

the first look with a vintage (although this one isn't) rhinestone necklace,
{check ebay and craigslist, i found a hundred for under $30}.
and a sassy skirt and pair of heels.

the other paired with loose boyfriends and a boucle tweed jacket.

pull your tees out of your closet!

wear them!

land of nod.

when did land of nod become a great place for some not totally kid-like stuff?

i love all of these.

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

and this 'between a rock' lamp. in gold!!
i just acquired/bought 3 news lamps for my house...
so i'm not in any lighting need, but for only $69, i'm so tempted to snag one.

these are cool. here and here.

and i want him.

same with pottery barn teen.
that place is a gold mine, too sometimes.

happy tuesday.

hope you had a good weekend.
