most of the ones i found are in the yellow/green or blue family. interesting.

remember my post about your front door? well i suspect indoor doors deserve just as much love and attention. i have a long hallway that all the bedrooms come off of, as well as a closet and a bathroom... i think all those doors would look pretty fantastic painted. now i'm on a mad hunt to find just the right color.

all polished up

i wanted to quickly share a little home improvement project that my mom and i worked on when she was visiting. (no i didn't even have to pay her).

when we moved into our apartment one of the first things i noticed was how all of the door handles and hardware had been painted over. they hadn't been painted over just once...i would estimate around 10 times. i worried about other things until i was talking to my mom about it and she had read that if you boil the pieces in water and baking soda the paint will more easily peel off.

so when she came to visit we gave it a try. i had to share because it is one of those things that no one would even notice when they come in to the apartment. now the hardware all looks like it should. but let me tell you it wasn't easy. lots of elbow grease, brasso, a box cutter, several screw drivers, a razor blade, a tin can with water and baking soda and several afternoons and we got these babies all polished up.

definitely rewarding.

although i don't know if my mom will ever come back to visit :)
