nye #ootd

i just now got into instagram.

i've had it for awhile but never really did anything but take photos and use a cool filter.

now i'm following people, and interacting, and i love it!

my only promblem with it-- when i like something, i can never go back and look at them. but that's me and photos... i've always been that way. i like to hoard everything. they're like memories on screen/paper and i can't let go.

not going to lie though, i had to google what #ootd meant.

seriously. and for those of you about to do the same, it means outfit of the day.

i don't do twitter. never have, and don't think i ever will.

words, meh. but pictures, now there's a language i speak fluently.

so i'm into it.

but as promised,

here's my nye outfit.

i hadn't tried any of it on together, i kinda picked it out in my mind.

it was a white tee with a full black tulle skirt.

and i sorta loved it.

but it was snowing out and i felt i might be slightly overdressed.

even though it was so casual on top, it was a bit shmancy on bottom for where i was going.

so i chickened out.

husband said to "save it" and i'm not sure what for bc we don't do alot of things where that fits, but i'm saving it in the back of my mind for the perfect time.

so i switched it out for your standard gold sequins.

felt much better.

and that was new years eve 2012/2013.

i like comfy, worn-in, slightly fitted but perfectly loose t-shirts.

i like the baggy-ness mixed with tight skinnies.

i like them with boyfriends.

i like them super casual with a pair of cut-offs.

i like them dressed up.

here are 2 ways to dress up your favorite old comfy tee.

(and you can fake an old tee. old navy actually has the best fitting v-neck, loose, pretend-worn-in, t-shirts right now!)

and a sassy skirt and pair of heels.

some people prefer to clean out their closets after the new year as a sort of "out with the old, fresh start" feeling. that doesn't work for me because you are still in the middle of a season. and how depressing to get yourself all excited about spring when there are still 4 more months of winter left.

instead my things get pushed and shoved in corners of drawers, on top of shelves and in baskets where they may never see the light of day again. ugh, it has to change...not that it matters now since everything i own is still in my suitcase or thrown across the bedroom floor.

these next few weeks feel like the perfect time to realistically evaluate what i wear. and to be honest i hold on to things way too long because you just never know when something you haven't worn for 2 years might just be the perfect thing for your night out...and you have discovered some fabulous new way to wear it.

for me, the beginning of fall is the perfect time for closet clean out. it may be because when i was growing up mom made each of us do a closet clean out before school started in the fall. she would pull each item of clothing out of our closet and ask us if we still liked it, if we still wore it and if it still fit. i loved this process, unlike my brothers who threw a total fit every year, because i knew it meant some fun new school clothes!
