those over at beautylish have decided these are what's hot for nails this fall.

and i can get behind almost every single one of them.

i have an oxblood from last past 2 years when i was (still am) obsessed with wine and magenta, and lucky for me, it's still cool.

and just the other day, when i was buying my new DOMINO!!!!!!, i also bought a dark hunter green polish on a whim. which i thought would be pretty for christmas.

lucky for me, they say that's also cool.

(cheap brand you can buy at walgreens... sorry i don't remember the name or the maker.)

and remember that holographic chanel polish from last week... still cool.

and glitter.

also pretty for the upcoming holidays, no?

some random good things.

today is an unloading of some of the things i think are

pretty ok.

i know hologram stuff has been around since spring.

and to be honest, i kinda wanted a small little party clutch since.

and then a few weeks ago, blair eadie

(from atlantic-pacific)

wore this skirt from milly and there it was...

i was intrigued all over again.

and then i found this clutch, also by milly.

and for a cheaper, quicker, less commitment-type of fix, you

can paint your nails in hologram, thank you chanel.

while we're on the topic of atlantic-pacific,

the other day she posted this asos sweatshirt....

and i think it would make the raddest ku game day outfit.

not actually kansas affiliated but everything works.

and it's so awesome and old-school.

and then there are the magazines.

lately, they've been pumping them out.

i'm not always a huge fan of matchbook in the past, but lately, i like it!

and then domino.

don't even get me started.

i've told everyone around me who doesn't give a-you-know-what

all about how my favorite magazine is coming back after a 4 year hiatus.

i have every issue (minus the quick fix things which i thought were silly)

and i was pumped to add another to the stack.

(hoarder).

but domino and matchbook:

the other day on hbo i saw this movie was about to start:

so i quit photo editing.

then laughed and cried until my face was red.

i can't believe i waited so long to see this movie.

it was truly great.

truly funny. a little gritty.

and a whole lot touching, which surprised me a bit.

i loved it.

rent it or dvr it or redbox or netflix.

whatever you gotta do.

OHHHHHHHH.

and in less than an hour,

i get to find out which type of baby we're having.

pretty excited about that, too :)

some people just get it, and know how to be totally fearless.

miles redd and nick olsen are 2 of those people and i think that's the reason i'm such a fan.

anyway.

husband was gone all weekend and it made me spend alot of alone time with my house.

when that happens, i start analyzing things, rearranging, re-thinking.

as we stand, i now have plans to re-paint my front room. the-so-dark-its-almost-black navy has had a really great run. but it's time.

i have plans for a new bathroom color. and art. and flooring.

i have 2 chairs in my front room that need re-upholstering. i wanna go bold. domino green-and-yellow-toile-kitchen bold.

kinda want to paint all the doors in my all white hallway something. black... mousey-gray-tan? don't know but i think it could rock.

and i want to paint my front door again.

see why i shouldn't spend that much alone time with my house?

gets expensive!

who else is utterly underwhelmed by the domino out today?

seriously. and the thing was $12.

that was the price for one whole year of their subscription!

it was cool though. i was just excited there was a new one.

so i raced out at lunch today and picked one up.

then i sat at my desk and read it.

maybe i'm the unusual one for saving every one of their past issues, so i'm one of the few that noticed, but it was all old material. all old photos. all from old issues. with new words.

the cover was pretty.

kinda love that chair.

but sadly, i'm kinda bummed.

i'm hoping this was just to see how many people actually go out and pick one up before they dedicate themselves to open the full magazine back up to monthly issues. to see how many people still want what they got sorta thing.

that's where my hope lies now.

here's your good news... if you don't have their old issues like me, this stuff is still gorgeous and lovely and could be new-to-you since it's been awhile since you had seen it last.

so then by all means, go get yourself one.

otherwise, let's all just cross our fingers, toes, arms, legs, and eyes that they come back for real!

you see, i have this giant long wall that is (awesomely) covered in bookshelves and a fireplace in my living room. a fireplace that looks just like the one below with a brick hearth and bricks up to the ceiling.

i just gave them both a new face of super glossy white paint, and now i want something to hang up there. something that is also awesome... i used to have a mirror but everyone has a mirror :)

domino was my favorite magazine (you already know about my magazine addiction) but i saved every issue and still go back to re-read them. i have been drooling over the 2 images above since i saw them... but back then, i didn't have the perfect place for one of those marlins. NOW... i do!

i have checked all over the web for one (that i can afford). there are a few for sale through fish-mounting companies but i'd prefer mine vintage, especially with their prices.

anyway, we were down south this past weekend and you better believe i kept my eye out for a marlin in every antique/thrift store i went in. (i live in kansas and we are a little ways away from an ocean, and i figure i'm not as likely to find one of these big fishes around here!)

i had no luck. but i'm not giving up. maybe one day i'll stumble upon one on craigslist or something. i can wait.

they were even cool in the 60's! this one hung in the white house under jfk, in press secretary george reedy's office. love.

like i said, maybe you might think it's weird. i think they're cute.

my grandpa was a hunter growing up and he had all sorts of animals and fish around (no marlins or sailfish... i already asked). when he died, my grandma got rid of most of them... except for the zebra rug (i definitely don't agree with killing animals either but it's already been done) but that's another post for another day :)
