2 very handsome men and a house.

and those 2 handsome men...
both of whom i have secret crushes on...
are nate berkus and jeremiah brent.

you know nate berkus.
but did you watch rachel zoe last season?
because then you'd also know jeremiah brent.
(i did and i thought she was nuts for letting him go.)

but they are now together,
making house dreams come true. together.
in the hollywood hills.

cue the envy!!

i wish i had the restraint to dress my home in a variation of three colors, plus the original mint kitchen. it's so beautiful.

i follow them both on instagram, and they truly look happy together.
and that makes me happy for them.

all this found in the latest harper's bazaar.

scarf and earrings.

on pinterest the other day i came across this:

it was during nyfw but there was no link to follow and i doubt this was for fall.
i'm thinking it looks dior to me, but i'm wrong alot.
anywhoo...

i really enjoyed the pairing of whispy black couture with a silk scarf and a pair of true statement-making earrings.

whether or not we all have the means for her dress, or her african princess earrings, we can get a similar look and i'm buying it:

scarf and earrings

RED Valentino swiss dot dress / MASON'S floral sweater / AllSaints party top / Current/Elliott distressed boyfriend jeans / Leather brogue / Flat heels, $35 / Zara leather heels / DANNIJO earrings / Lulu Frost jewelry / Emilio Pucci printed scarve / Diane von Furstenberg yellow scarve, $235 / Dolce & Gabbana printed scarve, $340 / Deepa Gurnani post earrings

so, from left to right, formal to informal, there you go.

i have a few silk scarves, some vintage, one new. they cover not-freshly washed hair like a pro champion. (remember my post on head scarves?)

happy monday.

b+w

cyber monday is hard!!

i think it might be a bigger shopping day than the day after thanksgiving.
i got a million and one emails telling me all the great deals to be had and how easy it was to do with a few clicks....
i don't shop on black friday because i don't like the hoards of masses of people. so that's easy. i just don't go.
but i found it really hard to sit at my desk and not shop for myself.
for me, not for christmas gifts. for me!

so i decided, one thing.
i'd get something small to get it out of my system.
and then sit on my hands for the whole rest of the day unless i was being selfless and buying a gift for someone else. or in fact, getting some real work done. at work, ha.

so i headed to f21.
i'm into the whole black and white stripes thing more than ever right now... remember here. and they didn't disappoint in that arena:

this faux leather was tempting...
but you have to be careful at f21. some of their stuff can look so cheap (bc it is), so this one i had to see in person.
and i haven't seen it in person, but you can get yours here.

and finally settled on this:

it was free shipping.
and the sweater itself was only like $17.

after that, i made it through the whole rest of the day without spending all of my savings account :)

did you find it as hard as i did?
online shopping is so dangerously easy.

soo, happy post-cyber-monday-tuesday.
hope you survived.

what did you get!!!??!!
i wanna hear.

hmm.

bizarre-oh.
or
bizarre-ah?

i'm kinda liking it but
i also like weird stuff.

the whole bed situation is grand.
textured black headboard with the pillows. all of em.

the coral wall color is perfection.
and perfect coral is hard to reach.
(this one is bm tangerine dream!)

but that little deer makes it all the merrier.
or bizarre.

but bizarre bad, or bizarre good?
like does it scare you a little to sleep with that above your head?

my vote's for good.

from matchbook.

happy monday, ya'll.

the look for less.

i'm back!
we didn't get internet at work until last night around 9.
turns out it wasn't our server, it was something something something (i have no idea what i'm talking about), but our entire city block was out and at&t was running around like chickens with their heads cut off.
bad visual. but it gets the job done.
they! got the job done.
finally.
try working without the internet. it's like working in the dark. honest.

back to our regularly scheduled programming.......

wallpaper is expensive.
expensive.

but you can get the same look for a little bit less!

i obsess over this room.
like obsess.

i love the black. i love how it's big girl pattern in a little girl's space.
i love how sophisticated it is for a kid but black polka dots bring it right back down a smidge. it's a little unexpected, but i've come to find that i am a #1 fan of the unexpected.

so yeah.
this might be happening in the future if i have a daughter.
more than probable, actually.
it'll happen.

{i'm screaming}
IT'S SO PRETTYYYYYYYY!!!

SO PRETTTTYYYYY.

sanderson sweet bay magnolia wallpaper.

it's a paper made in the uk. i found it online anywhere from $50-60 a roll. (not terrible, but for a room the size of above, there will be lots and lots of rolls.....)

but it's gorgeous and if you can swing it, by all means swing it!

unless you can sleuth out these 2 almost identical (actually, i like one of them better!!) for less:

(this one, i like this one better! throws a bit of pinky-lavender into the mix.)

ashford house, #YV9001.
found it online for about $30 a roll.
that's half folks. half the cost of the sanderson paper.
and it's SO PRETTY, TOOOOO!!!
hooha!

and then there's this one:

strikingly similar to sanderson, no?

york green black AD8202, magnolia vine.
found it between $90 (yikes) and $35 online, per roll.

then we come to the wildly popular, blogged about to death, cole and sons hummingbirds in aqua.
so dreamy, ethereal and whimsical-ly.

and this room below, God i love it with those bright orange/red josef albers prints.
it's good.

cole and sons, hummingbirds in aqua.
this paper will set you back between $115-150 a roll online.

but then thibaut comes up with their similar but everybit as whimsical rendition:

thibaut augustine paper, top in aqua and below in the blue coloway.

this baby will run you around $85 a roll. better than cole and sons, but still not super affordable.

 but it's just so cute!

so like i said, if you can swing it, by all means, swing it!!

i've died and gone to wallpaper heaven with that black magnolia stuff up there.
i'm smitten.

bloomin.

we had a down pour of rain over the weekend followed by consecutive days in the 70s and 80s... and in less than a week...

spring has blossomed!

trees are flowering and leafing. i don't even know if that's a word, but it's happening.
and its so lovely.

so are beautiful florals backed in black.
this dress, i would wear every single day and night and twice on tuesdays, belt and all. paul smith, fall 2011.
it doesn't hurt that she's chic and lovely and parading around luxembourg palace gardens in paris.

hope you're enjoying the weather where you are.

remain neutral.

seriously, there is a serious misconception that black and brown don't go together.
if black/gray is a neutral and can go with anything,
and brown is a neutral and can go with anything...
why oh why can't they go together?

they can. and they do.
really well.

winter is kinda synonymous with duller, more neutral colors.
embrace them!
wearing a mix of gray, black and brown is far more interesting and textural than all black or all brown.
i've been sporting my black leggings with my brown boots lately like it's my job.
(partly because i like the look, partly because leggings are a gift from God)

but you know me, i crave color. so there have also been lots of hot pink lips :)

if you don't believe me. maybe you'll believe these:

pretty, huh?

xo.

round 2.

i'm back with more from jessica helgerson, like i promised yesterday.
these were just 2 of her projects that i particularly enjoyed.
there's plenty more to see.

a more monochromatic home to enjoy:

love the warm and woody attic space.

yay for friday.
