nye #ootd

i just now got into instagram.
i've had it for awhile but never really did anything but take photos and use a cool filter.
now i'm following people, and interacting, and i love it!
my only promblem with it-- when i like something, i can never go back and look at them. but that's me and photos... i've always been that way. i like to hoard everything. they're like memories on screen/paper and i can't let go.

not going to lie though, i had to google what #ootd meant.
seriously. and for those of you about to do the same, it means outfit of the day.
i don't do twitter. never have, and don't think i ever will.
words, meh. but pictures, now there's a language i speak fluently.
so i'm into it.

but as promised,
here's my nye outfit.

i hadn't tried any of it on together, i kinda picked it out in my mind.
it was a white tee with a full black tulle skirt.

and i sorta loved it.
but it was snowing out and i felt i might be slightly overdressed.
even though it was so casual on top, it was a bit shmancy on bottom for where i was going.

so i chickened out.
husband said to "save it" and i'm not sure what for bc we don't do alot of things where that fits, but i'm saving it in the back of my mind for the perfect time.

so i switched it out for your standard gold sequins.

felt much better.

and that was new years eve 2012/2013.

what did you wear? any epic #ootd? ha.

various things

this is a series of random various things that i'm unloading from my brain.

first, my sewing machine was indeed broken.
you never realize all the sewing projects you had in the wings until you can't do anything about it. looks like my tree garland will be made right in time for christmas day. wah wah. and not only does this sewing machine repair place take like 2+ weeks, they cost half of what my machine actually cost!

i'm no sewer. i use the manual settings. i get my machine out, use it how it came, and put it back, occasionally changing the thread color... somewhere in there it broke.

but on a happier note,
i don't know what about this time of year brings out the tartan in all of us
but it does and i'm hooked all over again.
so is j.crew.

and speaking of j.crew, have you seen their sparkly etta pumps?
those would some happy holiday parties make, my friends.
i love the fat heel on them, and they come in a million colors.

unfortunately they are more than i spend on shoes.
maybe i'll ask santa.

har har.
santa husband prob wouldn't go for that.
we still get each other things we need/want for our house.
unless we kept these on the mantel...................

next week i have a few budget holiday gift guides to share with you!
i've been out shopping for my list and realized there
are some really great little gifts to give this year.

happy friday.

heartsies

this v day, my color obsession is hot pink and gold.
actually don't know if i ever got over my love for neons and hot pink from when i was little, so i'm thriled it's so haute right now. and gold with anything = yes.

wouldn't you like to get one of these in the mail?
i'd like to get one of these in the mail.
where to find them? go here.

and then i thought this sparkly sweetheart neckline appropriate for valentines dinner.
probably for a fancy dinner at home because going out has proven to be so nutty on v day.

throw on some neon pink underpants lipstick and you're set.

ok, maybe both :)
because we should all ---

love.

party sequins

it always happens this time of year.
i get crazy about glitter and sparkles and gold and sequins.

it's really easy to dress up the festive party sparkles, but what to do with them when the parties are over at the end of the season?
usually the things sit in my closet until next holiday season rolls back around.

but i've found lots of people who show us how they can be dressed down and worn more often. (long after all the eggnog and champagne have been downed.)

t-shirts and jeans.
sounds good to me.

i have been playing around on polyvore. another good place to waste good time.
and i came up with these:

casual sequin 2

Free People baseball t shirt, $198
Short top, $178
American Eagle Outfitters slim leg jeans, $30
Steve Madden ballet shoes, $90

casual sequins 1

Cable knit cardigan, £129
T shirt, $75
7 For All Mankind low rise skinny jeans, $126
Miu miu shoes, $495
Gathering Eye stone necklace, $20

those sparkling miu miu tennies... i die.
those could certainly become my everyday sequins.
and of course, my lipstick made it. i am quite possibly obsessed.

go buy some more sparkle!!

holy moly

this impossibly long week seems like it's never going to end.
both of my works are piling up. and i. do. not. like. that. feeling.
i wish i could take lots of half days and have lots of picnics but alas, life gets in the way.

i'm dreaming of the weekend on thursday afternoon.
don't judge.

here's what i'm also dreaming of:
snuggles with sweaters and sequins.

tonight i have 3 pumpkins that are going to get their carve on.

these little dotted party pumpkins are pretty cute.
i just might be copying...
i am more excited for the seeds that come along with carving more than the actual pumpkins though.

i roast mine 3 different ways:
1- just salt and pepper.
2- season salt and any other herbs/spices i fancy.
2- salt and sugar. omg. think kettle corn. and thank me later.

mmm.

well. i just found the rockstar love child of the two.
found it on pinterest and could not for the life of me find who makes it... so sad.

but i am s-m-i-t-t-e-n.

all that glitters....

is so very me right now.
i can't help it, but i'm drawn to sequins and glitter and feathers and gold and glitz right now.

and we've been seeing alot of it around!

there's no way you can't feel like a lady wearing sparkles.

a great way to implement this into my wardrobe without going overboard?
this zara skirt.
perfect with the chunky knit sweater she's wearing, too.

happy friday!

vintage glamour

this is a shot from the original 'thomas crown affair' in 1968
with faye dunaway and steve mcqueen.

does their vintage glamour not make you kinda sorta jealous?
i know it was for a movie but i think people back then, in general, wore glamour on their sleeves. effortlessly.
i would love to have her look for an evening out.

the long sleeved gown, the chic hair. check.
husband in a bowtie. check. check.

i love it.
perhaps if this image was to be turned into a chair...
this one might be it?
