the coveteurrr.

i am inspired daily by the coveteur.
i know these ladies bring out their best stuff but gosh, it's amazing stuff. the shoes, jewels, the clothes.

color, pattern... awesome-sauce.

if you don't already go there, i might recommend it.
and in case you don't know how to get there, go here.

how was your weekend?

just a few things.

here are a few things that i've gathered from the instagram
in the past few days.

two things i want.
and one that is just plain pretty.

first up, these camo sneaks from target.
in the little boys section.
yes, i'm being serious.
and only $17.
going to get them at lunch.
(you can get them online for $19 here)

i think they'd make really rad photography-taking workin shoes.
with either some rolled skinnies or cut-offs.

(via @targetdoesitagain)

then these:

currently from calypso st. barth.
i'm on a mission to make that long light purple one. so cute.

and then i'll take either of those 2 beaded pendents on the right.
they aren't online but some other good ones are, here.

(via @taylorsterling)

now, this:

i really couldn't sleep last night.
like up from 1-5am couldn't sleep.
ugh.

so i was creeping the internet and instagram.
i found @southsocialandhome.
she's working with emily henderson on that reception place they're re-doing.
i'm excited to see it unfold, bc i already love anything emily henderson touches but now i love this cute blonde, too! and i think they may like vintage as much as the other...
her name is dean and she blogs here. and her website here.

what i'm really trying to say, is that her amazing southern wedding was just featured on martha stewart and it's a good one you guys!!
gold sequin mini dresses for the maids, and hers is vintage!
no details were spared.
so pretty!!

you can read the martha bit here.
and see more their photos here.

i'm going to go take a nap on the conference room table now.
not really but i wish i could.

happy wednesday.

autism awareness.

this blog has introduced me to alot of people i wouldn't have otherwise met over the years.
one in particular is a charming, southern belle of a teacher living in houston.
her name is elizabeth, and although we've never officially met, she's a friend.

she rocks it at school, where a few of her students deal with autism...
and then she rocks it on the weekends selling luscious stella and dot jewels.

she recently asked that i draw your attention to what stella and dot is up to in this fine month of april. from april 1st through the 31st, they will be donating 20% of the retail sales price of each of their items in their 'autism awareness collection'. all of these proceeds will benefit the hollyrod foundation, with a guaranteed minimum of $10,000.

the hollyrod foundation is dedicated to providing compassionate care to those living with autism.

we can help!
so let's help get that number over the $10,000 mark.
shop on.

i'm kinda really partial to the delicate la folie necklace (#2 above).

here's 3 ways you can dress it up, dress it down, or in between for spring:

la folie necklace 1

Madewell / Green skirt, $27 / Zara leather shoes / Stella & Dot stella dot necklace

la folie necklace 2

rag & bone boyfriend t shirt / 7 For All Mankind jeans, $305 / Leather shoes / Stella & Dot

la folie necklace 3

Tshirt dress, $525 / GUESS peep toe shoes / Stella & Dot stella dot necklace

you can find more of elizabeth right here.

this is like doing something good for someone else,
and getting something beautiful to wear as an added bonus!
win win.

...and purple.

did you know red/coral/orange/persimmon is best friends with purple?

they get along like peas and carrots...

maybe you like lamb and tuna fish better?

{name that movie ;)}

scarf and earrings.

on pinterest the other day i came across this:

it was during nyfw but there was no link to follow and i doubt this was for fall.
i'm thinking it looks dior to me, but i'm wrong alot.
anywhoo...

i really enjoyed the pairing of whispy black couture with a silk scarf and a pair of true statement-making earrings.

whether or not we all have the means for her dress, or her african princess earrings, we can get a similar look and i'm buying it:

scarf and earrings

RED Valentino swiss dot dress / MASON'S floral sweater / AllSaints party top / Current/Elliott distressed boyfriend jeans / Leather brogue / Flat heels, $35 / Zara leather heels / DANNIJO earrings / Lulu Frost jewelry / Emilio Pucci printed scarve / Diane von Furstenberg yellow scarve, $235 / Dolce & Gabbana printed scarve, $340 / Deepa Gurnani post earrings

so, from left to right, formal to informal, there you go.

i have a few silk scarves, some vintage, one new. they cover not-freshly washed hair like a pro champion. (remember my post on head scarves?)

happy monday.

malachite.

did some etsy shopping this weekend and amongst other things, i found lots of malachite!

i actually ended up purchasing this vintage necklace for myself:

can't wait to layer it into my wardrobe.
from here.

but there were shockingly lots of things to choose from.
{i guess i don't know why i was shocked, but i was.}

still thinking about this egg for somewhere around my house.

from here.

and all of these, too:

to make my own, here.

it was a toss up between the one i got and this little gem.

i hope everyone in the northeast is bearing the winter hurricane as well as they can be.

looking to be quite the adventure.
love you, elle!!

watch out.

{get it... 'watch' out. har har}

because i'm the total blazing nut job
who wants to own this total blazing nut job of a watch.

its at tjmaxx.
for alot of money for such a nutty watch.
$129.
that's why its still there.
if it were a watch i'd wear everyday i could make a case,
but that's not the case here.

cutest little blinged out alligator you ever did see, though.
with his emerald eyes and sparkly scales.

good thing you can score it on ebay for like 50.

i'm not going to get it.

little too crazy. although i did stand there at the jewelry case for a minute too long.

{i go to this black tie charity ball every winter and husband and i are in the youngest 1% of people there. i always look for something young and super hip to wear... try to channel carrie bradshaw or something.
wouldn't it kill it with a dress like this, but with a super plunging back?

gosh, i think so too.}

the nice tjmaxx employee that had to unlock the case and then stand there while i looked at this watch thought i had lost my marbles. i could tell.

i asked her to get this watch out from amongst other normal people watches.
told her it was the crystal croc... and she pointed to 3 others before landing on the. only. crystal. crocodile. watch. in the case.

she was thinking, "she can't be serious. lady, are you sure you don't want one of these other nice watches? look this one has a gold face? or this one? no, how about this one? ok, fine. but you're crazy."

ha. and then i took some photos of it.
nearly threw her into a tizzy.

when i convinced myself to step away, she sighed in relief.
not really, but she might as well have.

she just didn't imagine it with that striking black jersey dress like i had in my mind!

i still like it.

or am i seriously, socially inept as a human, for picking something like this out?

take it up a notch.

it would appear as though i'm dipping into the holiday jewels a bit early this year.

ever since this post here, i've been hunting them down on ebay and etsy, and local places. they're everywhere. large and in charge necklaces, vintage = better.... brooches. again, vintage = better.

especially worn with jeans and tees!!

and i've done this with my messy bun lots of times:

makes it so much more important... than just messy hair.

oh, and kansas city's getting one of these!
2.6 minutes from my house.

girl, you fancy.

yet comfy all at the very same time.

fancy tee.

Burnout tee / River Island boucle jacket, $48 / Versace leather skirt / J Brand boyfriend jeans / Givenchy kitten heels, $250 / Gucci strappy sandals, $465 / D&G rhinestone jewelry

if you haven't gathered, i really like t-shirts.
{more here. here. here. here.}
i like comfy, worn-in, slightly fitted but perfectly loose t-shirts.
i like the baggy-ness mixed with tight skinnies.
i like them with boyfriends.
i like them super casual with a pair of cut-offs.
i like them dressed up.

here are 2 ways to dress up your favorite old comfy tee.
(and you can fake an old tee. old navy actually has the best fitting v-neck, loose, pretend-worn-in, t-shirts right now!)

the first look with a vintage (although this one isn't) rhinestone necklace,
{check ebay and craigslist, i found a hundred for under $30}.
and a sassy skirt and pair of heels.

the other paired with loose boyfriends and a boucle tweed jacket.

pull your tees out of your closet!

wear them!

love.

it's here!

hong kong squeaked in for the win!

{sorry i have olympics on the brain.
that's all i watch now.}

in fact, this necklace is so big and beefy, i feel like it's my own little medal of sorts.
wait, would that make it a medal for being-too-cheap-to-buy-the-real-one-so-you-settle-for-an-ebay-knock-off...

scratch that, it's my medal for saving-mucho-dinero!!!!!!!

:)

well, my perfect little ebay knock-off got here yesterday.
you might have gathered that by my new widget down there in the right corner.
i've been updating the ol blog. lots more changes to come!!

back to my necklace.
here's a really really really lame photo of myself sporting (pun intended)
my new cobalt bubble necklace through the bathroom mirror.

{i don't know how all those fashion bloggers do it without feeling like a total boob. seriously.}

its so lovely.
i love it.

the color- i was so extremely happy with when i opened my little package from hong kong yesterday. it's blue. like the purest, brightest cobalt blue.

the gold isn't shiny, it's more matte.
and i can't tell if that's how it's supposed to be, or because it's a cheap knock-off...
but i think if it were shiny it would have looked in fact, cheap.

so all in all.

quite pleased.

in fact, i'm going back for more.
the blush pink one is calling my name.

there are quite a few of you who also got yourself one.
can't wait to hear what you think of em when they get here.

happy thursday.

cobalt bubble necklace.

i don't buy anything from ebay.
i'm always tempted, but i got burned back in college on some (probably fake) lacoste polo shirts... i bet jo remembers. we waited and waited and waited.

those super collegiate-preppy polos never came.
and the jerks were off with our poor-kids-in-college money!

i know i shouldn't be nervous now with paypal,
but still am.

anyhow,
i retract my first statement because i just bought this:

i have been eyeing the j.crew version for how long now?
don't know. but that means it's been a long time.

but we can start from the very beginning.
friday afternoon i stumbled upon a new blog and within a few posts, she had mentioned how she bought and just received her new j.crew necklace in turquoise. but it's not really from j.crew... it was from hong kong. funny enough, it even has the j.crew tag on the clasp.

she says the quality is just like the j.crew version.

and she wears it all the time:

so i figured hmm.
why the hell not?
let's check it out.

followed her link to ebay and they are between $15 and $30.
MUCH better than the j.crew $150.
i mean, i would never. what happens when i wear it twice and then i'm over it?

so i got a little shaky from distrust... and then a little nervous, because i went ahead and jumped on that bandwagon and bought the cobalt blue one.

i think cobalt rocks with almost every other color.
so i'm crossing my fingers, toes, arms and legs that i don't get burned on this one....

or else!

just kidding.

i can't really do anything, just like the jerks who took my money along time ago. positive side-- it's not much money and i'm not as poor as i was in college. but now i'm excited and i want it.

so i'll sit here and wait for my necklace.
and i'll be darn sure to keep you updated in case you want one of your own.

did i mention there was free shipping?
from hong kong?

so a necklace for exactly $18.99.

like i said, fingers crossed.

and in case you don't want to buy it directly from hong kong yourself...

you can buy an also-much-cheaper version of this necklace from furbish.
{i just found these.}

i'm more a fan of the one color version so i'm still happy with mine (provided it actually gets delivered),
but if you like the two toners, i'm betting a million dollars that transaction would be a whole lot more trustworthy.

furbish's tessa necklaces in blue and green.

guessing these are also coming from hong kong for that price :)

**update**

thanks to one of our sweetest readers...

{seriously, she always has the nicest things to say. such a doll.}

elizabeth (you can find her here) informed me that emily's earrings in question from earlier this morning, were from stella & dot!

the capri chandies, in turquoise.

knowing that, it was just a simple google away before i found these 2:

i know. so pretty, right?

thanks, elizabeth!!

go get yourself some... you can right here.

minty-aqua for your ears.

the other night emily, from the bachelorette, had lots of beachy dates.
{GO JEF}

usually she's a little more flashy-blingy than i would normally go for...
but the other night, she wore a gorge maxi in shades of orange, coral and purple. i tried looking for a pic online but no luck.

the thing that caught my attention most-- she wore mint earrings with that dress. totally unexpected. totally didn't "go," but it went. oh it went.

the earrings looked sort of amrita singh-esque to me.
there aren't a ton of true mint options out there, which surprised me.
but there are lots of minty/aqua goodness to be purchased.

and here's how you could wear them
a la emily:

minty aqua earrings #1

French Connection striped dress, $365 / Alice + Olivia long maxi dress, $195 / Warehouse straw clutch, $34 / Gold necklace / Amrita Singh gold plated jewelry / Nickel free jewelry

minty aqua earrings #2

killer.
i especially love the that brown dress. with the bag. and the studs.

but.

while we're on the topic of the bachelorette,
i'd just like to say that i love this season.
she's getting alot of crap for being nice and well, anti-slutty.

i think it's a breath of fresh air.
this show was turning into one big skank-fest before her (but don't get me wrong, i still liked it).

but i'm glad her daughter is apart of it.
i'm glad she's polite.
i'm glad she's a lady.
i'm glad she says thank you and shows manners.
i'm glad she kicked off the d-bags and crazies for being exactly what they are.
i like her.

and from day one, my 2 favorites were jef and ari.

bam. final 2.

now i sort of almost don't care who wins!

who am i kidding. i'm obsessed with jef and i hope he swoops in for the win.

thoughts...
on minty earrings? or comments from fellow team-jef-ers?

love.

hello. i want you.

and you. and you. and you. and you, too.

like holy smokes.
these aren't on their site any longer, but i bet i could make something like em by dipping (terrible gross awful) wood spoons in black paint and then polka dotting it with white. might try it.

want.

and why didn't i want junk like this when i was in pottery?
i could have made these cute lil things in 2.2 seconds.
my uncle is a potter-er and my grandma used to teach pottery classes out of her basement. did you know that? now ya do. wish we still had her kiln.

pyramid rock paperweights.

even more rocks.
never enough rocks.

all good stuff from the leif shop.
