happy friday!

my mind is already reeling with the holidays.

this year i am chomping at the bit for them to get here.

i might put my tree up this weekend. for real.

and i'm on this kick where i want to make our little (soon to be) family of 3 a set of stockings. anthropologie/free people-esque. hand-made that we'll love for a good long time.

i'm still pulling inspiration but if i wasn't so swamped with photography during christmas card season, then i would probably be making those this weekend, too :)

my brother is getting married this weekend.

and i have to wait 3 more weeks until i know the gender of this baby i'm carrying.

the first two things- awesome.

the last- not so much.

friday monday!!

so i've been gone.

and this is a sentance i have been saying far too much on here.

and i'd rather just not say it, but i've been really uninspired.

maybe i'm desensitized with all this beautiful gorgeous stuff all over to look at.

i have my theories.

but instead of forcing anything, i'm just stepping away until i'm inspired again.

this weekend was the lowest key weekend i've had in a long long time.

i clocked a lot of doing nothing time.

it was great!

and yesterday was a devious maids marathon and you better believe i watched it. all of it.

so now...

not sure when i'll be back but i will be.

my parents are getting married again!

on our dock at the lake!

not really again again, they're renewing their vows.

it was their 30th anniversary this july and so i decided they needed a party.

and more vows :)

we're at our lake house getting ready already.

it's tomorrow night and we have lots of our family and friends on their way to stay at both our house and nearby... for the wedding of course!

i'm excited.

my mom bought a cute little white dress and we even bought a cake. ha.

i've massed all their old wedding photos into one hell of a slideshow...

and we're going to do this thing.

i'm busting out of work early to head to the lake.

 

my family goes pretty much every weekend.

i used to do the same.

this spring/summer has been different.

the weekends have been filled with lots of things (all fun!!).

so on the empty ones (and this is only the second one of those!),

i grab my things and RUN for the lake.

 

 

i'll be taking all my meals and morning coffees outside.

getting mosquito bites, and drinking fruity cocktails.

getting tan lines, and breathing fresh air.

maybe even a date and some putt putt golf.

all things summer.

straight up DIED.

almost lost everything but didn't thanks to my i.t. department.

but while it's being remedied, i don't have my work computer.

and i'm bonafide too lazy to do these things from home, just kidding, but not really.

been doing this blogging thing for 148 weeks.

that seems like a very very long time!

sometimes my eagerness and patience for this thing wavers, as it has been in the past week or so. but i tell ya, the thought of never doing it again doesn't sit well. so i may not post once a day but i like keeping my little online, search-able diary of the things i think are rad. it keeps my ideas somewhere neat and tidy instead of getting lost in my brain.

i don't have a ton of readers, let's be honest :) but i am a-ok with that.

to those of you that do stop by here, i like you.

i have met some of you really lovely people, that i wouldn't have otherwise...

peonies to bloggers is like meth to central missouri.

:)

my backyard is getting ready to explode. i counted last night, because i had never done so before, but the dear old woman who lived in my house before me planted 19 peony bushes. all of which are getting ready to burst wide open.

i'm afraid i'll be gone when it happens. is that sad?

heading to my family's lake house for the holiday this weekend.

husband is staying behind to get some work done. werk shmerk.

but he will be there to sing and dance in the moonlight (har har) for my 19 peony bushes. and with approx. 49 buds per bush... that's a hefty load of the good stuff right there.

they will still be there when i get back, but i have to say:

i'm no gardener. i'm actually really freakin awful at it. and not for lack of trying.

but plants just don't make it in my care.

however, these peonies are THRIVING. after 4 summers with them, too!

(she says, knocking on wood.)

my grandma told me (who not only has one massive green thumb, BUT TWO!) that when they get this big, i should divide them in the fall to keep them healthy. i don't know if she's right but she's been doing it her whole lifetime so i trust her.

i guess fall is dividing time.

i probably won't do it because they probably wouldn't survive.

and it scares me.

so i'll just enjoy them as they are now.

ginormous.

i'm excited for this weekend.

saturday the fam and i are heading out to celebrate one of my brothers.

#2 out of 4.

he's graduating from college (kinda sniffle sniffle... i feel old!!)

i'm excited for him.

and the celebration plans!

i have paint plans, for furniture and for walls. it'll on have to be on sunday. we'll see how far i get, especially if i'm sporting a flu*

every year at this exact time i declare them my favorite flower, but then they fade so quickly and time moves on and i forget how much i truly, really do appreciate them.

but i do.

oh, i do.

i snapped this yesterday.

stole it from a neighbor while i was on a walk yesterday morning, and brought it to work with me to smell up my desk. they smell so delicious.

you know when you're running/walking and all of a sudden you get a strong sniff of these gorgeouse flowers. that's my favorite.

summer's coming.

in tune with yesterday's post, i am so very, very, sincerely thankful today is friday.

more than ever before, i strongly feel.

hallelujah.

i've also come to the conclusion that i have a strong propensity to save any, and all, flowers i find on the internets (for these friday flowers posts of course) of the pink-blush-orange-coral variety.

and they especially get me when they are petally.

you know, sweet pea-peony-rose-ranunculus-full-of-petals, ruffled and petally.

i have a weakness for them in that particular combo.

and when this shade of blue is also involved,

just forget about it.

come to think of it,

i based my entire wedding around those colors, and those flowers/petals!

i told you i liked them.

and my cake was that color blue, too.
