berry christmas

wrap me up in some black and white ribbon,
some cranberry and magenta garland (or any berry color for that matter),
and a gold star (brass is even better!) on top...

and consider my christmas perfected.

do you guys ever get into something and then love it so hard?
it's consuming my christmas.
but i'm ok with it.

they = my christmas spirit circa 2012.

what does your christmas look like this year?

christmas!!!!!!

bring on the wreaths, and trees, and sparkly stuff.
it's officially christmas season!

i was feeling the spirit all weekend long.

(from house and garden)

put up my tree!
with a million glass balls i've been collecting for years. both vintage and new.

then i brought out my sewing machine to make a garland
fashioned sort of similar to this in colors.
i was just going to cut out squares and sew them together in a string.

but my sewing machine is rejecting my efforts.
i think its broken.
i know the bare minimum on my sewing machine, just enough to not know how to fix it.
i use all the standard settings and try not touch it....
just use it.
didn't work this time.

so long story short, i don't have a picture to share.
wah wah.

i know.
i have to get my dumb machine fixed before i can get on it.

but i have a cute wintery plaid, cranberry, gold, magenta and black and white fabric.
should be cute, right?

hope you had a great thanksgiving.

i did.

target pillows

i ran into target sunday morning for a few things.

while i was there i saw these on clearance:

they were cute.
and wine.
and cheap!

but as much as i loved the wine and cream, i didn't love the bright red piping.
i'd rather it was magenta.

see more of my love affair with wine and magenta here, here and here.

so thanks to target's cheap pillows and the fact that i just might be able,
i'm going to make my own (just how i like em) for my family room.

i found this organic fabric on tonic living.
(love tonic living. have purchased nurmerous times from them.)

organic linen in scarlet.

for the piping, organic cotton in hibiscus.

and for the creamy neutral side, this cotton in 'organic white'.

see.
cute.

they'll go swimmingly with these guys i made over here.

target been inspiring you lately?

little bit orange. little bit red.

poppy!

this color is lighting my life right now.

especially mixed with magenta and lilac.
and that perfect shade of teal-green-blue-aqua-mint.

i love it.

{and i want that rug}

{and on another note, that painting is from etsy and i've lost the link. tried looking for it and can't get it. i actually really want to purchase it for myself! its an original oil. the colors are just so perfect. i'll keep looking but if i find it, i might buy it :)}

i still don't know what to call it.

but i'm happy to see that this color is still trending,
and this year i think it's even bigger!

what is it?

wine? maroon? burgundy? deepest darkest raspberry? ox blood? (gross, no.)

last october i professed my love for this color mixed with magenta.
it totally takes it up a notch, no?

well, h&m says you can also mix it with coral:

and jenna lyons likes it with hot pink:

i like it all 3 ways.

beautiful.

i never did pull the trigger and get me some david hicks, la fiorentina.
maybe its a sign i should jump on that.
{i think i'm holding out for 4 window panels worth.
but at this rate and at that price, it might be awhile ;) }

how do you feel about this color popping up everywhere?
some people i know are very opposed.
perhaps it reminds them of the last time it was cool... was that the 80s?
feels to me like it was the 80s or early early 90s.
the key to keeping it fresh is pairing it with bolder, bright colors.

anyway.
to each his own, i guess.

blue.berry

i'm digging shades of blue with all different shades of berry.
from deep raspberry all the way down to pink.

i think it's my new favorite combo.

especially dark raspberry velvet.
that shit's good.

last day of work for me this week.
(i love those words, btw)

happy tuesday.

easter sunday.

spring brights

as an adult i don't really get a new easter outfit like i did when i was little.
i loved picking out that new spring dress with new shoes, and sometimes even matching accessories like a hat or new purse. then finally getting to wear it all for the first time to go to church. that was one of the best parts about easter, that and the candy. and jesus, of course :)

saw this color blocked skirt and thought it would rock an easter outfit quite nicely.

i love the mix of high and low in outfits as much as in interiors.

silk skirt and diamond earrings {i die for those from 1stdibs}...
with a cotton tee and slouchy sweater.

do any of you still go out and get yourself an easter outfit?
have it already? i wanna hear!

magenta and wine

or raspberry and maroon.
which ever way you say it. right now i'm obsessed.

maybe my den is needing some fall/winter inspired colors to warm it up for the cold months ahead, but i am about to buy this fabric and make me some pillows. i would really love to uphoslter a chair in it
but being as expensive as it is, i just couldn't make my cheap self pull the trigger.

it's been all over the place for years and years and years but that doesn't mean i love it any less.

david hicks, la fiorentina in the wine/magenta colorway.
some examples of it's greatness from domino:

i love it paired with camel and brown with a hint of black.
beauty.

God knew it was awesome when he made these.

i think it's an underused pairing and not sure why.

happy friday!!
