malachite.

did some etsy shopping this weekend and amongst other things, i found lots of malachite!

i actually ended up purchasing this vintage necklace for myself:

can't wait to layer it into my wardrobe.
from here.

but there were shockingly lots of things to choose from.
{i guess i don't know why i was shocked, but i was.}

still thinking about this egg for somewhere around my house.

from here.

and all of these, too:

to make my own, here.

it was a toss up between the one i got and this little gem.

i hope everyone in the northeast is bearing the winter hurricane as well as they can be.

looking to be quite the adventure.
love you, elle!!

little bit orange. little bit red.

poppy!

this color is lighting my life right now.

especially mixed with magenta and lilac.
and that perfect shade of teal-green-blue-aqua-mint.

i love it.

{and i want that rug}

{and on another note, that painting is from etsy and i've lost the link. tried looking for it and can't get it. i actually really want to purchase it for myself! its an original oil. the colors are just so perfect. i'll keep looking but if i find it, i might buy it :)}

citrus.

this whole post is based on the fact that i want to eat this cake.
right now.

i'm making it this weekend.
and might not share.

get the recipe here.

citrus cake with lemon curd filling and orange icing.
might sub grapefruit for the icing bc i love it that much.

it was inspired by stella mccartney's spring 2011 citrus print.

just like it, right!?

me like it long time.

imagine hosting a 'summer's-not-over-yet' party with this cake as the centerpiece.

wearing this on you and your home:

YOU-

citrus party

Raglan shirt, $63 / Steve Madden platform heels, $130 / Gold necklace, $16

YOUR HOME-

swanky.

and the gold flamingos are mandatory.

love.

beautiful stuff galore.

the kings of stuff.
tony duquette and his friend, business partner, and protege, hutton wilkinson.

after the duquettes passed, wilkinson bought his california estate and keeps it up in true tony duquette fashion. he even throws tony-esque dinner parties:

the beautiful objects and fine china and gold and colorful goblets and patterned textiles and silver. i only wish i had a supply of dinner party details like they did/do.

that terrace with the oriental umbrellas and malachite table cloths would be where i'd eat every. single. meal. with lots and lots of friends. everyday.

love it.

i actually love stuff.
have i said that before? i sound like a broken record. i don't really fall under that 'minimalist' catagory :)

ZING! POW!

nope. not old school batman...

it's what citrus colors can do...
 for your mood.
and your home.
and your wardrobe.
and your tastebuds.
and your health.

it's like powerful super fruit that just so happens to be very very pretty, too.

can we talk about what these colors mean to me?
i am partial to them.
i love them.
they make me happy.

like for instance this wallpaper.
i love it in its blue colorway but it knocks some sox off in orange and yellow.

even doughnuts look better.

duh. that trench. duh.

and it fights off that pesky scurvy.

i WILL be making this this summer.
i mean, have you ever?

and i could also use some of this meyer lemon tart in my life.

and a genius ice ball maker.
except fill it with orange or grapefruit juice.
then add the special sauce.
done.

what do you think?
gorgeous.
ya, i think so, too.

been taking advantage of this season's citrus fruits.
lil cuties, grapefruits, blood oranges... you name it. i eat it.
