because i'm definitely a yay.

with a side disclaimer: (just like with my fur coats and deer head, etc....) they should be purchased as vintage, or handed down. because then it's better to end up on me/my walls where i will cherish the thing, than in a landfill. or, they should die of natural causes, such as old age, or dysentery (kidding). and then you might as well use what God gave you (like mounted butterflies).

that is where i stand on that. always have. always will.

there was a house 5 minutes from our house growing up, that had peacocks and llamas and a few other exotics as pets. they had a huge yard, with gorgeous landscaping. and then these animals just walking around like yard art. but you could tell they were loved as a part of the family. whenever we were close, my brothers and i would always ask to drive by real slow and we'd stare. its still there. i haven't driven by in a long long time. but i'm hoping other kids enjoy it as much as i did.

maybe that's where my fascination started.

did some etsy shopping this weekend and amongst other things, i found lots of malachite!

new friend.

this guy from zgallerie is finding his way to my house as i type this.

{i've always had my eye on this one but for $98 i let it sit there... until this friend pops up for much much much cheaper. and i like him better!!}

and he won't get put away after halloween.

thanks for letting me take a day off yesterday.

i survived the wedding!

more than survived, i had so much fun.

it rained all flipping day. all flipping day.

 but the bride was goregeous, the wedding was gorgeous and we found a way to take some gorgeous photog, even in the rain.

then sunday i had 3 more sessions!

busy is so great but i was tiiiiiired.

i had a brother/sister (twins) senior session in the morining.

cutest little prego and her husband in the afternoon.

and a stunning family of 3 in the evening.

all different locations.

all awesome.

i can't wait to share but i have a load of editing to do now before any of that can happen.

after this weekend, i was even more excited to let photog be my official job in the near future. it's my 2 year game plan.

can't wait.

i loved every second of it.

i thought about getting it made (it's big at 20" x 30"), but i'm so glad i didn't.

geodes in the stairs

geodes are all over my house.

bookends. little ones sitting on a table/bookshelf. coasters (that i think i may hang on the wall instead, haven't decided yet).

i like rocks. pretty rocks.

my parents were in las vegas for work monday and yesterday.

my mom knows i like geodes, so she sent me this picture:

they are geodes stuck in the stair risers at the crystal mall.

i think animal art is a quirky and fun way to introduce a little

of the natural into our lives.

i have a collection of some of my favorites for you below.

each is awesome for it's own reasons, but any one could hang in my living room... or on the walls of a nursery. versatile little suckers.

i particularly enjoy because of where these animals hail from.

they aren't the kind we see in our own backyards. and most of them can't even be found at the zoo!

i'm not saying i am organized because people who know me would call me a liar... my desk/house tend to be on the cluttered side. i do try to be neat sometimes. does that count? but i like love science. i'm a dorky nerd who studied things like organic chemistry and pathophysiology.

i feel like right brainers are far cooler than i am.

but color is my jam. without it, my toast would just be... toast. and i like laughter and sand beneath my feet and nature and long hippie dresses and painting. creating/making/photographing things is how i keep myself sane.

so....can i say i'm in the middle?

but is that even a good thing, does that mean i don't have brain group to belong to?
