all the single ladies.

i missed out on my opportunity for a hot pink front door. why didn't i jump on that when i was a single lady? i just don't see it becoming husband's new favorite color anytime soon. i'm sure he'd put up a stink fit but eventually let me do it. i just don't want to force him into a hot pink door everytime he comes home.

oh well.

but these ladies... lucky ducks.

i'm sure hot pink wouldn't look so bad to husband, were i to acquire a dress like zees:

so pretty. ladylike and sassy at the very same time.
just like the front doors!

{dress from michael kors, or better for your wallet-- the topshop version, which i sadly can't find... must be gone. double missed out.}

teal front door

from wah wah....

to ta da!!

i got this b from here.
i didn't have a great spot on the door to put the 4 brass #'s of my address like i had wanted. but i did really want some more brass on there other than the kicker and the door knob... so i found this!

comes in all shapes, sizes, finishes and fonts for any front door out there.

the brass kickplate hails from the home depot.

and just because i overshare...
here is some of what i used as inspiration when coming up with the door color, and the whole house paint scheme we plan to go with when it happens:

i'm in love with the way it looks with gold and brass.
scrumptious.

and neutrals.

via h&m.

it's such a friendly color. and it's not the same teal we knew in the late 80's and early 90's. with neutrals like crisp white, black, navy, gold, leopard-- it looks current.

i still smile when i walk up to my new door.
and those are the best kind of diy improvements...
not expensive in the slightest but packs a HUGE punch.

happy monday.

come n knock on my door....

because now it's pretty.

before:
it was not so much.

i am embarressed to say that it took me over 2 years to paint my front door.
that is the first impression of my home and it was so blaaaah.
i blogged about options here because i was really going to do it then, but it took me until now to settle on a color.

shame on me.

here were/are my issues:
we're tackling the outside of our house in phases. first phase was to spruce up our front door.
so.....

we removed that heavy aluminum (useless) storm door and stuck it on the curb for craigslist... gone in 20 minutes, no joke.

now just the door was exposed. i was pleased because the solid wood door actually has a really pretty shape. i just didn't love the flesh color it was painted, and it was flat paint so it scuffed, and grass clippings would even get blown into it and they would stick!

behr aqua waters, in exterior high gloss to the rescue!

like i said, the house is in phases. but our goal is to paint the entire exterior. so in order to pick out a door color, i wanted to pick out the whole house scheme.

we love ourselves some white painted brick... so we're either going to paint the house white or lime it.
but either way, it'll be white.
then we'll paint the trim a mushroomy-brown-grey color and our shutters are getting a new coat of dark navy.... with a bright teal door. and brass accents to polish it all off.

this is all i have to share with you at the moment.
i actually finished the door! and added some new brass accessories to her but after removing the old storm door, we need to repaint the trim on the outside.
and i haven't done that yet.

i'll share the finished product on thursday :)

bienvenidos! bienvenue!

say it in spanish, say it in french... it doesn't matter how you say it, a bright and beautiful front door says WELCOME to my home!

my front door is the same color it was when we bought the house a year ago...
beige {read: boring}

i am looking to paint this front door a super glossy color to shock the neighbors, in a good way of course.
