some prep in your step...

i went to a private school from pre-school through high school. i was schooled on the art of preppy shoes... until i liked playing kickball at recess too much and wanted to wear my tennis shoes. those shoes were saddle shoes, not to be confused with oxfords. there is a difference.

saddle shoes: my mom loved and thus i wore up to the 2nd grade... black and white with white laces, {gasp!} that i wore with white fold-over socks with lace around the edge!!

oxfords: any color you want nowadays and WAY cooler :)

size 6 (or i'd already have purchased them) vintage oxfords for $34.

oxfords are also called brogues, more commonly over in the uk.

bibliophile heels for only $70

i am more a fan of the flats personally but the heels above, i think i could do.

they're cool with laces or without, in the standard brown, black, patent leather, colored, two-toned, or (personal fave) metallic!

i prefer them without socks... but j.crew is good at making anything look possible.

olivia palermo wearing my favorite pair yet, shiny silver oxfords.

these shoes are my new thing for fall. i didn't really warm up to them this past spring when they showed up but i am ready for them now!

you can wear them with skirts or dresses, with tights, with leggins, with skinny jeans, or with rolled up jeans... to work or on the weekend. they go anywhere.

i'm on a mission for my very own. what do you think about them?
