chinoiserie

this collection of photos doesn't need much introduction. the ornate style of decoration of furniture, textiles, and ceramics esp. in 18th-cent. Europe, based on Chinese motifs, chinoserie, is just gorgeous.

miles redd, nate berkus and ashley whittaker (a few of my favorite designers at the moment) have been featured lately for their fabulous chinoiserie rooms.

the wallpaper can make a room elegant or playful. vintage or traditional. timeless

i would love to use a chinoiserie wallpaper in our guest room, but unfortunately wallpaper and renting don't blend.
however, i recently came across this duvet set from dwell studio that brings in the same feel and isn’t permanent.

dwell studio

it may just be the temporary answer.

the details of the hand painted wallpapers by de gournay are enough to make my jaw drop. as well as the price.
