all about the bow

i just saw this british wedding over at little miss wedding yesterday (emily over at good with style shared it on twitter). the delicate bow detail on the back of the wedding gown is what really caught my eye...and of course the antique fur jacket that belonged to the bride's great grandmother...

hibernation

hibernation has absolutely hit. i don't plan on resurfacing until i see the first signs of spring. i feel much more comfortable staying put under a blanket than trying to trek through these bitter temps, blowing snow and messy streets. if only i had one of these cave like spots to set up camp for the next few months.

as a kid i was always building forts or making reading spots under tables with my cabbage patch kids and falling asleep. mom couldn't find me for hours!

there is something cozy and safe about a covered or built in space.

maybe its better i don't have one. you all might get worried.

sparkles aren't just for clothing

sequins are big right now, in a HUGE way. i love them.

when i was in dance as a little tyke, i really only loved the recital costumes when they included sequins :) what 5 year old didn't, really?

anyway, i have found some kitchens and baths with sequins for their walls! really it's just some glitzy reflective tiles that add some umph to these spaces:

(this first one is my fave)

we have very traditional to rustic to mod kitchens and baths here, and they all work!

whatever my mood, it's something to think about in my next bathroom remodel.

kentucky horse farm

for most of you this is old news, but it never hurts to revisit a friend. especially a good one.

this weekend i was sorting through the piles and piles of magazine tear outs as i attempted to give some rhyme or reason to the madness. i stumbled upon the home of mark badgley and james mischka. i guess home is quite an understatement. this 1920s stone house sits on 15 acres in lexington, kentucky. it is beautiful place.

actually i think it is perfect.

understated, warm, elegant, comfortable, masculine, and full of antiques and flea market finds. the kitchen is one that i revisit often not realizing it came from their home. of course it did!!

the story in elle decor can be read here. i always tell my husband i would love for us to find an old home on a farm to fix up (this is in my other dream life). i don't think this is quite what he has in mind...

flowers for friday #25
