dip-dyed hair

friends. i have long hair right now. really long hair. longest it's been for me in years... maybe ever. i was about to chop it off up to my chin, which is what i have done my whole life. i grow my hair crazy long and then i chop it off crazy short and donate it. but this time.........

i thought i'd have some fun before its gone.

 

before i cut her off, i think i want to do something in the between time. i have been tempted. my much younger and much cooler cousin has dyed a chunk of her beautiful blonde hair purple. before that it was pink. and i was in love. friends, i don't think i'm cool enough to pull this off... i mean i'm much closer to 30 than 20.... but i think i want some pink tips!

apparently, it is all the rage. just look at pinterest for 2 seconds, or here, or here.

i know this is so not a big deal, but if you are me... and have never once dyed your hair (ever), especially not pink, this is kinda traumatic/exciting all wrapped up in one package.

so, tell me.....

i should do it, right?

i have no idea what work will think. actually i can make a pretty educated guess what work will think but i don't think i'm going to take that into consideration today :)
 i mean, i'm just going to cut it off. and i can't imagine keeping it for long. it's a spring/summer thing. couple days. or weeks if i'm in love.

but you can't donate hair that's been dyed. i have all this hair that could be put to good use for someone else that's having a rough go with life at the moment.
it sounds weird but i've always thought about it this way:

if i were in need of a wig one day, i'd hope there was someone out there that had been willing to help someone they had never met and never will.

so i found these awesome tutorials online on how to do it with chalk pastels... the $5 kind from hobby lobby. totally temporary. totally still as awesome. it even works on my brunette hair. and i can still donate it when i get around to cutting it!

it would be so fun for a night out.
blue for a royals game.
pink for a tuesday afternoon.
for the lake this summer.

i'm so excited to try it!

who else is utterly underwhelmed by the domino out today?

seriously. and the thing was $12.

that was the price for one whole year of their subscription!

it was cool though. i was just excited there was a new one.

so i raced out at lunch today and picked one up.

then i sat at my desk and read it.

maybe i'm the unusual one for saving every one of their past issues, so i'm one of the few that noticed, but it was all old material. all old photos. all from old issues. with new words.

the cover was pretty.

kinda love that chair.

but sadly, i'm kinda bummed.

i'm hoping this was just to see how many people actually go out and pick one up before they dedicate themselves to open the full magazine back up to monthly issues. to see how many people still want what they got sorta thing.

that's where my hope lies now.

here's your good news... if you don't have their old issues like me, this stuff is still gorgeous and lovely and could be new-to-you since it's been awhile since you had seen it last.

so then by all means, go get yourself one.

otherwise, let's all just cross our fingers, toes, arms, legs, and eyes that they come back for real!

atrocious.

those would be my allergies.

this would have been me every other year of my life. just fine and dandy in the good ol outdoors. never sneezing. never with a headache. never sleepy {at least not due to allergies}.

eyes watering? gosh, that's a real bummer. not mine.

i don't even know what allergies are.

but now...

this is me this year.

it's the only way to survive.

they are rotten. rotten. rotten.

they've come back with a vengence to make up for all those other years of no-effect.

you know what else i kinda think is rotten?

designers putting their stuff on anything that will stand still.

like these gas masks.

not kidding, that's a diamond studded pair of gucci and one louis vuitton gas mask.

who comes up with this junk?

i guess it did make for a good photoshopped accessory for my uber dramatic allergies post.

my first piece of advice...

take down the circus tent. let the light shine on in.

no fear of anyone other than God looking in on you in your underpants.

and he knows what it looks like, he made it.

that triangle window peak thingy here (resembling a certain famous french art museum) is the skylight that i desperately want to de-treatment.

elle, why don't you just go ahead and put an offer in.

i'll come visit.

we'll throw a huge garden party for all the cool people.

{you all are obviously invited.}

only downside to this piece of heavenly real estate: 1 bedroom.

i guess it'll be a slumber party!!!
