prints.

etsy is so inspiring.
that's nothing new to you, i'm sure.
i really love going there, just to look around and get some creative juices a flowing.

found a new artist to love this weekend,

they look like they are all done digitally.

i spent hours, talking serious hours, on microsoft paint as a kid
creating 'art' such as these.

(these are better than mine but they make me get a little nostalgic none-the-less)

this one would be kinda great at our lake house.

these 2 (above and below) would kill it together in a girl's room.

and i like these knots.
for the rock climber in your life.

whatcha think?
go check more out here.

ready to brave another monday?

determination.

it's all over the place but i couldn't resist.

i am in love with the way these walls look.
but it's not wallpaper...

it's handpainted.

mom, ava roth handpainted the walls of her dining room to appear at first glance to be wallpaper but upon closer inspection, you'd see it was actually a non-repeating hand-painted pattern.

you can read more about her and her process on design*sponge.

she took a little over a year to complete the project grabbing an hour here or there.

love it. and the colors together are great.

don't know, check that, actually i do know... i wouldn't have the determination to complete such a project. kuddos to her!!!

happy friday.

talented: steven gambrel

i preordered steven gambrel's new book from amazon, then recently went to a book signing to get a few more copies to share with friends. it is such a beautiful display of his work with amazing photography by the very talented, eric piasecki. one of my very favorite interior images, if not my favorite, is one i shared on this blog the day we started it. if you haven't had a chance to see his work- or realize it is him- take a little time to check it out. here is a sneak peak....

 my fave!!

pink kitchen!

ok. as i was running out of the house this morning, i remembered that i wanted to share my pink kitchen plans with you, but it really wouldn't do any justice to my plans with just words. so i grabbed these 2 shots of my kitchen (thank goodness it was clean!), with my phone.

they suck.
but i wanted to show you what i was dealing with.

i have this tumbled rock/black triangle backsplash that we didn't choose. and i wouldn't have. it's just not me. but it was there from the previous owners, as was the black quartz counters and the (eek.) orangey-oak cabinets. but they are all in excellent shape...

my original plan was to paint the cabinets a gray, or a teal-blue-green color originally and replace the backsplash...
but we don't plan on being here forever and i had this wild hair idea that pink walls would kinda make all of what is already there sorta work.

here's my ever exploding inspiration from my pink kitchen file:

these top 3 are it. a mixture of all 3, please.

but i like these, too.

this one makes me very, very happy:
(get in my kitchen)

i think the pink adds a whole lot to the situation.
and keeping all my wood and the black that's already there...
i think that keeps it from being a kitchen that any 8 year old girl would choose, ya know?

i'm channeling a moroccan vibe.
earthy. full of good stuff and accessories, which i hoard so we should be a-ok there.

lots of brass. some great textiles on my settee that i need to upholster. some ikat pillows.
a kick-ass rug, i'm looking on ebay, etc. for something ethnic. a kilim. with no pink in it whatsoever. or i might move my rug from the front room.... you don't know what that looks like so that's mean, but i promise. this is the room i'm focusing on at the moment so i'll share updates. i want a small cafe table with a marble top. some art. all around good stuff.

you know, morocco with a splash of european charm.
see it? prob not because i feel as though i'm rambling on.

some pink morrocan-esque inspiration for ya--

no? you'll just have to wait and see, then.

sophisticated sugar

the 'color recipe' for all these sophisticated icing colors!!
just the colors alone, presented in such a gorge way makes me smile.

now i want to throw a party. or 8.

i personally will stay on the lighter shades just because i don't like to consume alot of dye... but i could be convinced.... it only happens once in awhile after all :)

happy monday!!

flowers for friday #90

florals of all shapes and sizes and colors are floating my boat as of late.

have a great weekend, everyone!!

{image from vogue, obviously}

from a goodie...

to a greatie...(?)
(i know i made that word up.)

emily henderson is one of my favorite people to watch on hgtv.
she isn't doing the same old stuff in the same old style like alot of the shows on there. she loves color, which obviously makes me a fan straight out of the gate, and brass, winner! and vintage furniture, winner!

her blog is also another one i stalk. you should check it out.

but she's recently moved into a rental home out in LA,
and converted her already kinda cute dining room:

vintage furniture, brass, navy, kelly green, and crisp white.
awe.some.

but again, it wasn't that bad to begin with.
the forest green walls with all the bright colors in that table runner were beautiful together. where can i get that table runner? its fantastic. i'm sure its vintage and one of a kind.

but it got me thinking... am i crazy to want to switch my front room in the opposite:
from its current dark dark navy to a forest green?
with a few bright accents thrown in for good measure, just like whats found in the table runner.
or is forest green a phase i'm in right now?

i have design a.d.d. when it comes to my own house.
its a disease.

but happy friday!
